Orthofix Industry Tour!

BMES had the incredible opportunity to tour Orthofix in Carlsbad, a leading medical device company specializing in technologies that aid in bone and joint healing. During the visit, students explored various aspects of the company, including quality control, test engineering, design engineering, R&D, machining, the cadaver lab, the TET lab, and manufacturing. The experience provided a firsthand look at the development and testing of orthopedic innovations, offering valuable insight into the different engineering disciplines involved in medical device design.

A huge thank you to the Orthofix team for hosting us, providing insightful demonstrations, and taking the time to answer our questions! It was inspiring to learn about their advancements in spine and bone fracture healing technologies and see the real-world impact of biomedical engineering.
